About — ODD HD Games

Built out of shared frustration.

We’re Kay and Mark — a married couple, lifelong players, and neurodivergent game designers who found each other long before we found our way to game design. What eventually pushed us to start creating wasn’t a single moment — it was a shared frustration.

Too many games we loved in theory fell apart at the table because they were too complicated, too slow to start, or too exclusionary to play with the full range of people we actually wanted to play with.

We wanted games that were smart without being gatekept. Competitive without being cruel. Easy to learn and genuinely hard to put down.

So we built them.

Our brains work differently — and we think that’s a feature.

Neurodivergent designers bring a particular sensitivity to friction: the moment a rulebook loses someone, the card that requires three re-reads, the mechanic that sounds fun in theory but stalls out at the table. We feel those friction points acutely, and we design to eliminate them.

That doesn’t mean our games are simple. It means the complexity earns its place.

Every mechanic has to be intuitive enough for a 7-year-old to grasp and satisfying enough for a competitive adult to respect. If it doesn’t clear both bars, it doesn’t make the cut.

Our games are designed for ages 7 and up — which means they’re designed for everyone. Not for families. Not for kids. For players. Anyone at the table who wants to win, cause a little chaos, and maybe take out the person sitting next to them along the way.

Two people. One very specific obsession.

We show up to every game we make as players first — because that’s the only way to know if it actually works.

Kay

Co-founder & Creative Director

A mixed media artist, author, and speaker who brings a storyteller’s instinct to every card, character, and moment of chaos we design. She thinks visually, narratively, and strategically — and she will absolutely beat you at your own game.

Mark

Co-founder & Game Designer

A guitarist and creative thinker whose ear for rhythm and feel shapes how our games move at the table. He’s the one asking “but is it actually fun?” at every stage of development — and refusing to stop until the answer is yes.

We’re not a corporation.
We’re the people making the game.

When you back an ODD HD Games project, you’re backing people who will answer your questions, take your feedback seriously, and lose sleep over getting it right. We’re building something bigger than a single game — a whole world of characters, stories, and ways to play. This is just the beginning.
